My children’s book – a work in progress – is titled “Heul Doch!” which roughly translates to “Cry about it!”. The story follows the duck Udo, the fish Puk and their attempt to understand what this thing called“crying” actually is.

The two of them go on a journey and visit various animals that are crying for different reasons. These include a crocodile that longs for attention, a black widow who is in mourning and a moth that is afraid of the dark.

Udo and Puk do not try to solve the animals’ problems. They merely observe and try to understand the situation. In this book, it is not necessary to make someone stop crying. Feelings should be allowed and be beyond judgment.
